How to Create and Set-up Your Session Account

We're thrilled that you're interested in signing up for a Hopin Session account! Signing up is easy and will allow you to become a room owner. You'll be able to create and customize your own rooms and host events/conferences/meetings. Here's how:

Creating a Session Account

Note: You will be required to create a Hopin account to sign up for Session. If you already have a Hopin account, please click on Login instead.


  • You'll then be redirected to the Hopin sign-in page. Enter your email address and password to sign in or sign in with one of our other options.


  • Once created, you will receive a single-use code in your email inbox. Enter it to complete the process and sign in. 


  • Next, select the options that applies to what you plan to use Session for


  • FInally, set your unique URL for your account. This will be used as the unique prefix for your rooms and webinars on. Please note that you will not be able to edit this after you click on Continue to Session.


Note: If you are already signed in to your Hopin account, your Session account will be automatically created and you'll be taken to the Session home page.  

Setting up your profile

When you first create your Session account, your details from your Hopin account will be pulled over. You may want to edit this. Here's what can be changed:

  1. Profile image: Your profile image will be visible while your camera is disabled within a meeting. We recommend images with an aspect ratio of 1:1, however, Session allows you to crop the image down if an image with a different aspect ratio is used. Images wider than 400px aren't recommended. Images larger than 3MB are not supported.
  2. Full Name: This is your Session profile name. It will be visible to Session participants.
  3. Notifications: Allow Session to send you browser notifications when someone knocks or enters your rooms.

Here are the steps that you are required to take:

  • Click on the avatar at the top right
  • Click on Profile settings


  • Hover over the existing profile photo and select Update


  • Browse for an image on your device and select it. (Once selected, the new image will be saved automatically).
  • Click into the Full name field to edit your name then click on Save
  • (Optional) Toggle on the browser notifications


  • Click on the close icon (x) on the pop-up window to exit the settings.

Things to Note

  • The recommended image dimension for your profile photo is 1:1, however, you may use images with different dimensions and crop them down. 
  • It is not possible to edit your email address here. You would be required to go to your Hopin account to change your email address there. 
  • Editing your name within your Session account will not affect the name that is on your Hopin account. 
  • The name that is shown in the link for your Rooms will be the name that was on your Hopin account when you first signed up for Session.
