Room Owners and Hosts can mute participants within a Session room to help keep everything running smoothly. This can be done in all themes.
Muting Participants Via Their Video Feed
- From inside the Session room, hover over the video feed of the participant that you would like to mute
- Click on the three-dot menu that will appear at the top right of their video feed
- Click on Mute mic
The participant will be notified that they have been muted via a toast at the bottom of the screen
- Muted participants can then unmute themselves when they are ready.
- It is not possible for room owners or hosts to unmute participants.
Muting Participants Through the Participants Tab
- Click on the Participants tab icon
at the bottom right of the room
- From here you can click on Mute all to mute everyone in the room, including yourself
or,
- Hover over the icon that shows that their mic is open and sound is coming through
- Next, click on the mic icon to mute them.
The participant will be notified that they have been muted via a toast at the bottom of the screen

- It is not possible for room owners or hosts to unmute participants.
Things to note
- Participants cannot mute other participants. This can only be done by room owners or hosts.
- Participants will be muted automatically if they join a room with more than 6 people.
- Everyone within a room will be muted once a participant starts sharing a YouTube video, this includes the participant (presenter) who is sharing the video.
