If you have been invited to host a session, you'll need to join using the room's host link. This will allow you to have enhanced permissions to help moderate so that things can run smoothly.
The host link must be sent to you by the room owner who is the only participant that will have access to it at this time.
Joining a Meetup or Workshop-Themed Session Room as a Host
Here are the steps that you are required to take once you've been provided with the link:
- Copy and paste the host link that you were sent into your web browser and go to it. (If hyperlinked, simply click on it)
- Optional: Login into your Session account if you aren't already logged in by clicking on Sign in at the top right while in the room's lobby
- Allow Session access to your microphone and camera if needed
- Configure your audio and video settings
Note: You can configure this after joining the room as well.
- Enter the required information (if you are not logged in)
- Click on Join room if the room is unlocked, or click on Ask to join if the room is locked. (If the room is locked, you will need to wait on the room owner to let you in).
That's it!
- You will be automatically logged in to your Session account if you are already logged in to Hopin.
- If you are not logged in, you will be redirected to the Hopin beta sign-in page to log in to your Hopin account with your email address, or login in through Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, Apple, or SSO.
- Allow Session access to your microphone and camera if needed
- Configure your audio and video settings
Tip: You can configure this after joining the room as well
- (Optional) Set your virtual background under the video settings
- Click on Join room if the room is unlocked, or click on Ask to join if the room is locked. (If the room is locked, you will need to wait on the Host to let you in).
That's it!
Joining a Webinar Themed Room as a Host
The steps are quite similar to joining a Meetup or Workshop-themed room, however, with the Interactive Webinar-themed room, you won't need to configure your video and audio settings before joining. Here's an example of how the lobby will look:
You'll be able to configure your audio and video feed if you decide to go on stage after joining, or if someone invites you on stage. Check out our article on the Interactive Webinar Theme for more details.
